February, 2023-. In order to maximize the reach of knowledge about FONTAGRO’s initiatives, the Technical Administrative Secretariat is organizing webinars to provide more details about the 2023 Call for Proposals and the 2023-2024 Successful Cases Competition.
The 2023 Call seeks to identify projects that provide concrete evidence of “how science, technology and innovation can contribute to a more sustainable and resilient agriculture and food security to the effects of climate change in the countries of the region. FONTAGRO will co-finance proposals executed by public institutions or public-private partnerships from at least two member countries.

In January of this year and at request of the institution, a meeting was held with members of the Chilean Agricultural Research Institute (INIA) to provide researchers with more details on the presentation of projects.
This call will be carried out with FONTAGRO’s own resources. The total amount of the call for proposals is $800,000. Up to four proposals will be co-financed for a maximum amount of $200,000 each. Click here to register for this webinar.
The Successful Cases Contest 2023-2024 is a joint effort with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) to identify and document successful experiences and lessons learned that contribute to a better understanding of how, through science, technology and innovation, bioeconomy strategies are promoted in the agro-bio-industrial sector in Latin America and the Caribbean. Date to be announced soon.
The following categories will be awarded: 1). Producer associations and other private sector organizations, including NGOs, working with LAC producers; producer associations, cooperatives, family producers, as well as private companies that, through their innovations, promote the development of the bioeconomy. 2). LAC science and technology institutions and organizations; public or private research, development and innovation (R&D&I) institutions that, through their progress, promote the development of the bioeconomy. 3). LAC public sector (at all levels); all levels of government that, through different initiatives (laws, ordinances, promotion schemes, etc.), promote the development of the bioeconomy.
The webinars will be led by Dr. Eugenia Saini, Executive Secretary of FONTAGRO, who will provide details on the initiatives, selection processes, eligibility and application deadlines for participants, who will also have a space to clarify any doubts regarding the presentation of profiles and cases, as appropriate.
